I’m a nurse by training, a founder by necessity, and a leadership strategist by the long way round. I qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2002 and spent the early part of my career inside the NHS, learning what good care looks like at the bedside and what it costs the people delivering it.
I co-founded Rumax in 2010 from a kitchen table with one client and a conviction that care could be run with the same rigour as any serious institution. Fifteen years later, Rumax is a CQC-regulated business spanning domiciliary care and clinical trial support — rated Good, ISO 9001:2015 certified, with a 9.8/10 client satisfaction score sustained year after year.
I built it the hard way. I have sat in every chair: clinician, operator, compliance lead, recruiter, financial controller, director. I made the mistakes most founders make — designing an organisation that could not function without me, then mistaking that fragility for indispensability. I spent years undoing it.
Today Rumax runs without my day-to-day involvement. The 7 Pillar Path is the framework I wrote to make that possible — first for myself, then for the founders and boards I now advise. I’m a Black African woman, a mother, and the kind of leader who would rather build something useful than something loud.
The business now functions entirely without my presence. If I were unavailable for a month, nothing would break. That is not a statement of aspiration. It is a verified governance outcome.
